Instead of Decriminalizing Cannabis Like He Promised, Biden Pushing Ban on Menthols

4 min read

In 2020 when the Democratic party nominated Joe Biden for president, the party had him sign onto the platform calling for decriminalizing and rescheduling marijuana through executive action. Included in this platform were the plans for legalization of medical marijuana and expunging the convictions of those who have been kidnapped and caged over this plant.

“Democrats believe no one should be in prison solely because they use drugs,” the platform stated. “Democrats will decriminalize marijuana use and reschedule it through executive action on the federal level.”

Biden himself also said he was going to “reschedule cannabis as a Schedule II drug so researchers can study its positive and negative impacts.”

At the time, TFTP predicted that none of this would happen and that Biden would not keep these promises. We were right.

Last month, some folks in the media started asking the Biden administration why the president hadn’t moved forward with marijuana reform. Their answer? Biden is too busy saving the country.

In an interview with The San Francisco Chronicle, police state advocate and champion of the drug war, who is also the Vice President, Kamala Harris said “we haven’t yet taken that on” despite the campaign promises to do so.

“Honestly, right now, we’ve been focused on getting people food, helping them stay in their apartments or in their homes, getting kids back to school, getting shots into arms,” she said. “That has been all-consuming.”

No one can argue that people are suffering right now and so this excuse almost sounds believable but in true hypocritical and outright laughable fashion, the Biden administration showed us that the “too busy” claim was an outright lie. Last week, while seemingly taking a break from saving starving children, Biden’s FDA announced their plan to ban menthol cigarettes.

That’s right. They are too busy to positively impact millions of Americans whose lives have been turned upside down by the war on marijuana but not to busy to make already legal items, illegal.

Currently, the nation is gripped with a historical unemployment problem, the feds are waging a new cold war with Russia, the country is on the brink of civil war, hundreds of thousands of people are still locked up for victimless crimes, the dollar is on the verge of collapse, we are nearly 30 trillion dollars in debt, and the Biden administration sets their crosshairs on outlawing menthol cigarettes. Seems legit.

The utterly braindead decision to ban yet another product couldn’t have come at a worse time either — especially given the current climate among law enforcement and the citizens. All this is going to do is create a potentially dangerous and criminal black market and we will be seeing even more senseless, dangerous and deadly police encounters as they enforce this new era of prohibition.

Even the left-leaning American Civil Liberties Union warns that “such a ban will trigger criminal penalties, which will disproportionately impact people of color, as well as prioritize criminalization over public health and harm reduction.”

What this also says is that Joe Biden and company think they know what’s best for you. From the cradle to the grave, the nanny state will tell you what you can and can’t do with your own body. Disobey their de facto ownership of your flesh and blood and they will kidnap and cage you….for your own protection, of course.

Unfortunately, even though Biden claimed he will “pursue modest marijuana reform” once in the White House, those claims rang entirely hollow given his lust for locking brown and black people in cages in his past four decades in Washington. The prohibition of cannabis is a major tool used by the police state to go after communities of color and the poor and those who profit from preying on these groups will not give up that power easily.

What’s more, Harris built her entire career locking up brown and black people for weed. As attorney general of California, Harris vehemently opposed the legalization of marijuana. She wrongly attributed drug use to an increase in murder rates, only to be proven wrong. But it did not stop her from locking up those pesky pot smokers. In just three years as attorney general, Harris increased convictions of drug dealers from 56 percent to 74 percent.

The good news is that states don’t really care what the feds say anymore in regard to legal weed and over half the country has defied the government’s scheduling system. After all, real change never comes from the top down, it comes from the subversive crowd on the bottom, disobeying immoral dictates which are never in short supply.
